The Horn of Plenty Hotel Wedding – Sally & John
It is wonderful to travel the Southwest and offer wedding photography. Devon has so many different venues and it was great to visit the Horn of Plenty for the first time for Sally & John’s wedding. The weather was a little damp and dull but this did not spoil the spirits of the wedding party. The Horn of Plenty, meaning a symbol of abundance and nourishment, is situated on the Devon & Cornwall border overlooking some stunning scenery. Dartmoor National Park is close by as is Tavistock.
The couple both live, work and study in Loughborough but had wanted a country retreat to celebrate their wedding. The guests had travelled from far and wide to enjoy and celebrate the day. On arriving I met up with John and his groomsmen who were getting ready in the Coach House at the rear of the property.
The Horn of Plenty Wedding
Upstairs in the main house Sally was getting ready with her mum and the rest of the girls. She looked rather relaxed and not that nervous at all. Soon the make-up was completed and the gown was on. Sally’s very proud looking father walked the beautiful bride down the stairs and aisle to the waiting groom. It was very emotional throughout the ceremony with a few tears from the mothers. The men kept it together. Well done guys!
After the ceremony the guests congregated for a few group-shots before we went off for some couple shots in the grounds of the hotel. The guests relaxed in the drawing room and bar, enjoying catching up with a few drinks. The wedding breakfast was held in the restaurant which overlooked the hotel grounds and the Tamar Valley beyond. The speeches and toasts were met with plenty of laughter and a few tears. It was soon time to cut the cake with the couple, and rather than use a knife they were presented with a very long sword by John’s father! The first dance was upon us, the band ready, and the couple took to the dance floor. After the first dance Sally’s father and mother joined the couple. The music played on and the guests joined the fun, and it was soon time for me to go.
Thank you for the food it was absolutely delicious and very much appreciated. Thanks again for choosing Special Day Wedding Photos to be your Devon wedding photographers.
Talk to you soon.
