Hayne Wedding in Devon – Jodie & Silas
At last I finally captured Silas & Jodie’s wedding at Hayne the beautiful rural retreat wedding venue in Devon. The couple had, like so many, been effected by the dreaded Covid. Not only had the couple postponed a couple of times but they also had to change wedding venue. They chose well! Hayne is in a fantastic location and rather beautiful.
I love this type of wedding. It was all about capturing the moments and there just so many to capture. I arrived at a time when everything was starting to look a little hectic. I try to stay out of the way and observe from afar at these times. There is always plenty of nervous energy flying about, especially when the time for the ceremony is approaching.
The venue also has plenty of space for camping but also has a few yurts set up. It was in one of these yurts that Silas along with his groomsmen were getting ready. As you can imagine the space was pretty crazy. Clothes everywhere and a little bit of panic setting in, especially when a security tag was found on one of the suit jackets. Thankfully Google was on hand to help.
Wedding at Hayne in Devon
The ceremony took place in the beautiful walled garden with a backdrop of a colourful and impressive floral display and the thatched cottage. It was a really nice intimate quintessentially English ceremony in a beautiful setting. The couple left the ceremony under a shower of flower petals and made their way to the lawned area for refreshments and entertainment, in the form of a fiddle, trumpet and guitar player.
The wedding breakfast was held in the Threshing Barn. The fire was roaring, even though it was the middle of the summer, but it looked good. Soon we were all swimming in our own juices as the heat from the fire slowly melted us! No it wasn’t that bad, but I was stripped down to my under garments! No that’s a lie too. What is the truth? I just don’t know anymore.
After we finished in the sweatbox the couple along with the guests headed out into the venue grounds to mingle and play. The day always moves really fast and it was soon time for evening guests to arrive and the dancing to begin. It was fantastic to see all the great moves on the dancefloor. What a day! What a crowd, and what a great wedding. Wow!
