Ash Barton Estate Wedding – Sadie & Charlie
At last an Ash Barton Estate Wedding! 2021 was all about catching up with the weddings that were supposed to take place in 2020. The pandemic really had a dramatic effect. I originally met up with Sadie & Charlie for a pre-wedding shoot down at the beautiful Croyde beach on the North Devon coast in 2019 but unbeknown to us at the time, their wedding would be postponed from July 2020 to October 2021.
It made their Ash Barton Estate wedding all the more special when it finally arrived. Capturing a Devon wedding documentary style is a fantastic way to re-tell the couples wedding story. It gives me the chance to really find little stories within the wider context so the couple can re-live and view memories.
From the very start of the day, this couple were an absolute pleasure to work with, along with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Like most weddings it began with the bride preparing for her big day. Hair and makeup, which can be a stressful occasion for some brides, was an affair filled with fun and laughter. Sadie just laughed and smiled throughout the whole preparation. Along with the bridesmaids we had a great laugh. It was the same for the guys. Charlie and the groomsmen gave Michael, the second photographer, an easy job to capture the fun as there was plenty of it.

There was much excitement as Sadie arrived at Ash Barton Estate’s chapel. It was great to see her laughing as she walked down the aisle with her dad. There was so much laughter throughout the ceremony and even the signs of a few tears. It was lovely! I love capturing weddings when the couples and their family are naturally good fun and very friendly.
While the guests chilled out in the court-yard listening to a jazz band we walked around the estate for a few couple shots. Always a nice time for the couple to have a break and catch their breath. The weather was really nice and we were even treated to a sunset a little later on.
It was no surprise that the wedding breakfast toasts were full of laughter. It was also great fun that the couple wanted full participation for the first dance and had opted to do the conga. It was great fun! I felt like a laughing hyena for most of the day.
Thanks for such a fantastic day, it was a pleasure to capture. You made us laugh so much. I forgot to mention that Sadie was also pregnant on her wedding day so no alcohol for the bride.
* NEWS FLASH* – Its a boy!
I hope you enjoy the photos.
Cheers Anthony & Michael.
